These flightless bird USBs flash drives are truly adorable. The diminutive avian comes complete with tiny tiny scarves. Unfortunately, they also come with a comparatively tiny capacity. The flightless bird’s head flips open to reveal a shining USB connector; just as nature intended.
The USB Penguin is Mac-friendly, PC-friendly and small child friendly. It also comes with Vista Ready Boost functionality. Sadly the maximum capacity is 1GB and they cost ¥3980, or about 17$US. Is it really too large of a price to pay for cute?

Sure, we’ve seen USB drives that shun water like it’s their job before, but Iocell’s iteration of the waterproof flash drive comes in a nearly irresistible package. This ultrathin drive makes for an excellent keychain adornment, and the Taegeuk pattern — reportedly honed for this device by Young-Se Kim, CEO of INNO Design — leaves no doubt that this sucka is aimed squarely at South Koreans. The MDrive is reportedly set to launch this week, and while the 1GB edition will run you ₩39,000 ($42), the 2GB flavor will ring up at ₩59,000 ($63). Click on through for a couple more looks.

One of the current trends in cellphones that I particularly hate is the lack of a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. (And I know I’m not alone.) Almost every phone on the market now has some degree of music playback capabilities yet for the most part to use your own headphones (as opposed to the crappy bundled ones) you also need to use some inconvenient adapter. Even my iPhone which is supposed to be the pinnacle of an MP3-capable phone requires a short adapter to deal with the sunken 3.5mm jack.
So enough of my rant and onto a possible solution. These mobile phone plug adapters connect to a phone’s data port and provide a standard 3.5mm jack for plugging in any pair of headphones. And when not in use the adapters can be used as colorful phone charms ensuring they’re always with your phone whenever you want to use them. Unfortunately though I can’t figure out if the adapters are available in multiple versions for different types of phones/data ports or if they simply connect to any mini-USB port.

SanDisk decided to bring another screen to the clip-on party with its new Sansa Clip. Apple’s Shuffle and Creative’s Zen Stone have been rocking the form factor for a while now, but only the Zen Stone Plus is much use for browsing through your music collection. The Sansa Clip player sports the same OLED screen that can be found on the Sansa Express, but comes in both 1GB and 2GB flavors, for the lovable price points of $40 and $60, respectively. SanDisk even found room for FM and voice recorders, and the usual MP3 and subscription-friendly WMA support. The Sansa Clip promises 15 hours of battery life, and should be out in September in your choice of black, red, pink and blue.
